Guess you weren't expecting to find a Mercedes-Benz on the list of great sports vehicles under $10,000? The SLK-Class is a three-generation old compact luxury roadster that was initially introduced in 1996. The first-generation R170 model, created by the late Bruno Sacco, was manufactured from 1996 until 2004. Mid-first generation 2000 vehicles received a facelift with new styling and upgraded powertrains. The SLK230 cost $41,000 and came with a 2.3-liter, 4-cylinder engine that produced 185 horsepower. They haven't kept up well for whatever reason, yet one costs roughly $9,500.

The 2.0 to 2.4-liter inline-four engines power these vehicles and generate 140 horsepower for the GS. Currently, you can purchase one for less than $10,000.

2001 Ford Mustang GT ($7,400)

Since it pioneered the pony car market, the Ford Mustang is the original pony car. The Mustang has gone through numerous body and design changes over its six incarnations.

The "Fox Body" variants, which in their own right were extremely iconic, were only produced for the 2004 Mustang GT. And the GT, which used a 4.6-liter V8 to produce 260 hp, was the second-most potent model (after the Cobra). Before undergoing a complete overhaul, these vehicles initially cost $28,000 back in 2004, but today you can find one for under $7,500.
